In 1996, Messenger Project founder Lionel De Leon began composing songs from the 
Bible. The following year, musicians Tom Alderman, Fletcher Perkins, Skip Hahn and 
Raymond Genovese, all long time friends, joined the project after hearing a demo. They 
began recording tracks in his Garden Grove garage-studio and Messenger was formed. 
Tom Alderman left the band after the first CD was recorded. In 2001, the band created 
a nonprofit corporation, Messenger Project. Fletcher Perkins left during the recording of 
our sixth CD. Bart Broadnax and Joie De Leon are the newest members of the band. 
Bart plays bass and sings, Joie adds vocals and is Secretary of Messenger Project.
